Make sure that your interest rate stays the same throughout the term of your used or new car loan—regardless if you have bad credit or no credit or good credit—and if it doesn’t, red flags should certainly go up.

Something else to watch out for when dealing with other car loan companies out there is the price of vehicles. Unlike our model of a nationwide network of dealers and lenders, some auto loan companies will have cars listed on their website, or have only a small list of dealers to choose your car from. While this is not always an assertion of a red flag, it’s something to watch out for. 

The auto loan company can inflate the price of the car, making it seem worthwhile at first (hey, who wouldn’t want an interest rate of 3 percent?), but when the sticker price of a car is $3,000 more than what it should be, you’ll find yourself heading for the hills. In the long run, it’s just not worth it.
